Using Text Path in Photoshop CS3

by:susansgirls

This tutorial will show you how to use the Text Path tool to make your text pop off the page. You can use various shapes, fonts, colours and sizes to bring your text to life.

Follow these steps to see how easy it is to brighten up photos, cards, posters etc.
Lets get started.....

1) Open up a new document.
Click on the Pen Tool in your toolbar

2) Click on the Custom Shape Tool in the top tool bar and select your shape. For this one i chose the circle shape.

3) Click your mouse near the top of your page and drag outwards and downwards until you are happy with the size of your shape.

4) Next, select your text tool from the toolbar and click on the inner circle of your shape. Make sure you have left allign selected in the top tool bar, and choose 24-30 as your font size.
Write your words or name and it will automatically follow whatever shape you have chosen.

5) When you have finished writing your text, go to the layers and delete the Custom Shape Layer.
This will leave just your text with no shape template showing.

6) Now you can edit your text whatever way you want. For this one i changed the font colour, and added a drop shadow, bevel and emboss and added a black stroke.

7) To finish off i added a photo which i cut into a circular shape and resized to fit inside the text. i then added a gradient spectrum background.
