How to Paste an Image onto a Background

by: Kaitlyns_mom

You can easily combine two photographs and create your own original backgrounds and photos. The most important part of merging multiple photos is as simple as choosing the right photographs for your photo collage. The photographs you choose can compliment each other in terms of a general theme or color scheme, like the finished image on the right.

Let's get started by learning how to take an image off one picture and paste it onto another picture or background.

First, open the primary photo that you'll be pasting onto a background

Next, go to edit, selection and then trace (when choosing one of the blue circles remember the farther down you go the softer the edge will be (I personally like to use the 4th circle in)

Third, trace around the pic you'll be pasting-starting at one part of the pic and end at that same point, double click and highlight (black and green)

Example #1

Now hit copy (looks like 2 pieces of paper)

Then go to get photo and locate the background you'll be pasting your pic on

And now hit paste (looks like a clipboard and a piece of paper)-your pic will not paste onto the background image

NOTE: if you are pasting your subject into something (see example #2) you'll need to repeat these steps listed above

Example #4

Next Step: Now move the subject into place (see example #5 below)

Example #5

Then move the next subject into place and repeat these steps if needed

Save your enhancement and here is what it will look like...

You should have learned how to take one image and put it into/onto another image/background.

A key point to remember is to not make it look fake, you want the image to look like it really belongs in the picture.
