Colouring a page in Photoshop CS3

If you loved coloring as a child, or you want an interesting pastime that results in a work of art you can enjoy, why not start coloring again as an adult? You can stay inside the lines, or add your own artistic designs and touches to the coloring pictures you find.

You can color pictures with crayons, colored pencils, chalk, water colors, markers or pastels. I like to cut out line drawings and paste them together to make collages. Coloring page artwork makes wonderful stencils and craft patterns. Try using line art from a coloring page to design patterns for stained glass and quilting.

You can even make your own coloring books or coloring pages from photographs - it's not hard to convert a photo to a coloring page if you have PhotoShop or a similar program - really!

Coloring is a wonderful creative activity for therapy, relaxation or meditation. You can color pictures to keep your mind active or to quiet it down - coloring isn't just for preschoolers, coloring for adults is cool!

Step #1-find a coloring book page you want to use (jpg format)-file>open>find coloring page on your computer

Step #2-on the left side tool bar right click on the lasso tool and select polygonal lasso tool (I find the polygonal one works best but you can use any of those-lasso, polygonal or magnetic)

Step #3-click on an area you want to start coloring and start tracing (in my example I'm starting on one of the flower petals)-start and stop at the same point and double click to highlight it

Step #4-now go to layer>new fill layer>solid color and choose a color (I chose pink) and you'll see that area you traced fill in with color

Just keep repeating these steps until the whole picture is colored in
